Imagine sleeping in a tent or car when the temperature drops to minus 6 degrees. That’s the reality for many people right now in Orange. No heating, no hot water—just bitter cold nights and the hope they’ll make it through.
Break the Cycle is a unique public awareness and fundraising campaign taking place during Homelessness Week. Break The Cycle features stationary bikes set up outside the Orange Regional Gallery, surrounded by a striking tent installation symbolising the experience of homelessness.
On Friday 8 August, local businesses, community members and public figures are encouraged to nominate a rider and raise funds — one kilometre at a time — for the Orange Homelessness Service.
Money raised will be used to purchase swags, tents and basic necessities for the individuals and families accessing our specialist homelessness service.
Last year, our Orange Homelessness Service supported 778 individuals who were experiencing or at risk of homelessness—yet eligible residents in Orange still face social housing wait times of 5 to 10 years, highlighting a critical and growing gap in support and housing availability.
